For the second week running, the rain stopped and the sun came out as we arrived to prepare for a League Cup match against Meadow Youth. The boys from Blaze were up for this one from the first whistle as an early attack and slick passing move almost resulted in a goal. "That was like watching Arsenal yesterday" remarked one of the coaching staff ! A few minutes later Blaze were ahead courtesy of Macsween. Shortly afterwards, Lutwama- Lwanga (we call him Martin) went close with a well struck free kick which was tipped over by the keeper. Following a succession of corners, Blaze doubled the lead as Monsell bundled the ball in following a rebound off the keeper who was generally having a fine game. Half time came and went but despite the slope, Price continued to pull the strings in midfield and Blaze's defence remain relatively untroubled with Sarhan, Thomas and especially Paterson all having fine games at the back. The third goal was a well struck long range effort from Price which left the keeper with no chance. Hills rounded things off on the break, initially firing straight at the keeper but burying the follow up with some aplomb. This was a great performance from the lads and a fair result. Blaze remain unbeaten in league and league cup this season and currently sit at the top of their league cup group. However, there will be tougher tests to come - all too soon !
