In the first half, Blaze appeared to be suffering from a collective 11+ hangover as we were 1-0 down within a few minutes of the kick off. Missing a few key players was telling as the Blaze defence was exposed for a lack of pace while the lads normal composure, fight and willingness to mark was lacking. However, Thomas in goal proved again a very able deputy for Harris with impeccable handling and some excellent clearances. Dixon levelled mid way through the first half with a well taken strike but it was 2-1 to the Lions at half time.
Blaze started much stronger in the second half and the Lions were immediately on the back foot. The pressure told as Dixon netted his second off the keeper. Level pegging. Blaze had the bit between their teeth now and Macsween put his team in front as he raced to the ball getting there just before the keeper. He got a nasty kick in the ribs as a reward for his bravery but recovered quickly. Back came the Lions to make it 3-3 as Blaze lost shape and some collective lethargy resurfaced.
The Lions finished the stronger team and arguably deserved to win the match for their better all round play and determination.
Blaze will undoubtedly play better than this but there were positives to be gained - two goals for Dixon and a man of the match performance from Thomas. Still undefeated in all competitions this season !!
