Having narrowly missed out when we met at their place, we had high hopes at home. We didn't have to wait long with some great play on the right creating a chance, but missing an open goal! We kept going and just a minute later, tenacious work from hughsey allowed him to slot home. We were well on top and should have been out of sight, but then the visitors knicked a goal after some poor defensive work. Hughsey terrorised them upfront all day and the lead was restored after he chased a lost cause to calmly curl his shot into the bottom corner. We pressed on and looked the more likely but again gave the visitors a goal from a break away for our own corner right on the stroke of half time...2-2. Not a fair reflection.
The second half was tough for us with the wind making it difficult, but we defended very well until an unfortunate hand ball led to a penalty for them with just 10 mins on the clock. We didn't give up and with our lads struggling with the conditions and injuries, again, hughsey worked the ball and played a tremendous slide rule pass to set jasper on his way. He composed himself well and passed the ball calmly into the net. Some great late work from JD between the sticks ensured a well earned draw and our midfield duo of Michael and Andrew worked tirelessly throughout the match.
