Always going to be a difficult match to start the season v Coggeshall. We started brightly, but it became clear that the conditions favoured the home side with the slope and wind agaist us. Coggeshall were well organised and had a very good midfield which created several openings, but our keeper did well on several occasions. He could do nothing about the first goal, which was put in from close range following a neat move. This seemed to knock us a bit and we conceeded 2 again qucikly. Despite regrouping, a couple of defensive mistakes leading to the 3rd goal - with an unfortunate defelection into our own net. 4-0 Half time. We had a good chat about our play at half time and this seemed to raise our energy levels. We created 1 or 2 chances before some neat play in the middle by Josh set Hughesy away. He kept his composure and slotted from the edge of the area to open his account. Chances followed and the home side started to give us more room. These chances came and went, before Coggeshall went down the left with some neat 1-2s to score at the death. Game over, but we take heart from the fact the the second half was 1-1 to a side that will feature at the end of the season.
Im sure we will settle and proove that we deserve to be in this league.
